Grameenphone reactivation and number reissue
Last updated 2026-07-07 By Adnan Siddiqui
Seeing your old number — or a desired “fancy” number — on a recycled list does not automatically mean you can have it. Only Grameenphone can reactivate a line or reissue digits to a new SIM. This guide explains the realistic paths, what to bring to a GP Center, and how this checker fits in.
Listed on recycled ≠ available to take
A recycled-list entry means Grameenphone permanently deactivated that number as of a published notice. It may already be reissued to another customer, reserved internally, or still in the pool. Third-party sellers cannot “release” a GP number — only the operator assigns inventory.
Scenario A — reclaiming your own old GP number
If you personally held the number before deactivation and want it back:
- Call 121 (Grameenphone customer care) and ask about reactivation eligibility for your specific number.
- Visit a Grameenphone Center with your NID and any old SIM packaging or payment records if available.
- Be prepared to hear “no” if the number was already reissued or outside the reactivation window — policies change and are not public in full detail.
- If the SIM was deactivated for non-payment, settling outstanding dues (if any) may be required before any discussion of reissue.
Scenario B — getting a recycled number you never owned
Collectors and businesses sometimes want a specific pattern (repeated digits, memorable sequences). Grameenphone may offer number choice or “choice number” services at centers or through corporate channels, but availability is never guaranteed from a PDF notice alone. Avoid paying individuals who claim they can “book” a recycled number for you without an operator receipt.
What to bring to a GP Center
Having the right documents speeds up the visit:
- Original NID (and photocopy if requested).
- Biometric registration if applying for a new SIM on the number.
- The exact 11-digit number written down (01XXXXXXXXX).
- Proof of prior ownership if reactivating your own line (old bill, e-care screenshot, etc.).
Dial 121 — tips for a productive call
Customer care can confirm high-level status but may not quote internal inventory in real time. Ask clearly: “Was this number permanently deactivated?” and “Can it be issued on a new SIM in my name today?” Note the agent name, date, and reference number if provided. If the number appears on our checker, mention the notice date you see — it helps the agent look up the right deactivation batch.
After you receive the SIM
Whether reactivated or newly issued, treat the line as potentially recycled. Run the buyer checklist and security steps before attaching mobile banking or primary social accounts.
What this tool cannot do
GP Recycle is unofficial. We cannot reserve numbers, contact Grameenphone on your behalf, or override operator decisions. We only help you discover whether a number appeared on published recycled notices — saving you time before you call 121 or visit a center.
